The Samsung SH-D163B is the SATA version of the Kreon drive. Faster than the IDE version. Reader only. Connect directly to your motherboard.  This drive is the IDE version. The drive rips your original games to the PC as an image. You then burn the image to disc using a DL writer.   Reader only. Pioneer S18L  is the recommended drive for backing up your Xbox 360 games. The Pioneer S18L burns the image file created by the Samsung drives. Connect to motherboard only. The Samsung SH-D162D and Samsung SH-D163B are both preloaded with latest Kreon V1.0 firmware. Kreon firmware allows you to legally backup your own original Xbox 360 discs to your computers hard drive. You then burn the image file to a compatible writer. The Pioneer range are the best drives for the job as they automatically switch booktype for you. Good quality DVD+DL dics are also recommended. The Kreon drives are for Windows operating systems only and are not a replacement drive for your Xbox. Please note that Kreon Version 1.0 is newer than .81
